Prime Minister Narendra Modi has scheduled a meeting with the Union Council of Ministers on July 3, as confirmed by officials on Thursday.
This development follows extensive discussions between Modi and top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has sparked speculations about a potential reshuffle within the Council of Ministers.
The upcoming meeting on July 3 is expected to take place at the newly constructed convention center in Pragati Maidan, Delhi, which will also serve as the venue for the G20 summit in September.
Notably, Modi engaged in back-to-back meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J P Nadda, and other prominent party leaders on Wednesday. Nadda's presence in the discussions further fueled speculation about possible changes in both the government and the BJP organization, including at the state level. These moves are seen as preparations for the upcoming assembly elections later this year and the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
In recent days, Shah, Nadda, and BJP General Secretary (Organization) B L Santosh have conducted multiple rounds of deliberations to address various organizational and political matters.
Significantly, several states, including Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram, are scheduled to hold elections later this year.
